Where to find the VCP

Veterans Commemorative Plaza, or VCP for short, is a veterans’ memorial in Phoenix, Arizona’s Northwest Valley. It’s located at the southwest corner of Founders Park Boulevard and Pershing Street in Surprise, Arizona (find it on Google Maps).

The VCP serves two purposes

The VCP is a living memorial where people can go to honor veterans. New pavers are added twice a year, in May prior to Armed Forces Day and again in November prior to Veterans Day. There are still 2,000+ pavers available for engraving.

The VCP also serves to educate local youth about what it means to be a veteran. The VCP’s founders established a competitive grant program for local elementary schools that conduct Veterans Day activities. The grants help today’s youth learn that our freedom is not free and that U.S. veterans are ensuring our way of life is preserved for generations to come.

How to order a paver

The VCP consists of two types of pavers: Veteran pavers (to honor U.S. veterans) and Pathway pavers (non-veterans who want to show support for the military and leave a legacy). New pavers are added twice a year, in May prior to Armed Forces Day and again in November prior to Veterans Day.

Veteran Pavers

If you’d like to honor a former or a current U.S. military member, you can purchase a Veteran paver for $75. The paver will be inscribed with the veteran’s name, branch of service and dates of service, and it will be placed in the Circle of Honor which surrounds the flagpole.

Pathway Pavers

If you want to leave a legacy and show your support for the military, purchase a Pathway paver. They’re also $75 and can be inscribed with the name of a person, family, organization, or company.
